Townships of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Front of Yonge, and Town of Gananoque Cohost 1000 Island Parkway Challenge

Lansdowne, May 2, 2017 – On June 3rd, in celebration of National Health and Fitness Day, Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Front of Yonge and Gananoque are collaborating with other community partners to cohost the 1000 Islands Parkway Challenge.

National Health and Fitness Day is an initiative to make Canada the fittest nation on earth, starting with making one day, the first Saturday in June, the day when Canadians get out and get active in any way they wish. Hundreds of communities recognize this day and hold events to promote healthy active living.

The Parkway Challenge will see participants run, walk, wheel or cycle from Brown’s Bay (15km), Mallorytown Landing (10km) or Fox Run Retirement Residence (16km) to the Rockport Recreation Hall where there will be entertainment, refreshments and prizes! Free parking is available at all three start locations.

This project has been made possible through the support of: Rockport Recreation Hall, St. Lawrence Parks Commission, Parks Canada, Culligan, Campbell’s, Purcell’s Freshmart, Lansdowne Freshmart, Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, Front of Yonge Township, Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Town of Gananoque and several other community partners.
