Tell us about yourself! Hobbies? Fun facts? How did you get started?
I grew up and lived in the Toronto area until 1990 when I moved to the Thousand Islands. I always loved antiques so ending up in the LaRue House was a natural fit. After an early retirement from being employed as an office assistant, my interest in spiritual and metaphysical subjects led me to owning a business connected to just that.
Define your business in your own words.
It is a place where the like-minded, and those discovering all that the new age movement has to offer can come, learn, and share. Our product range of books and gifts generally fall under the spiritual, wellness, and metaphysical. Crystals, singing bowls, oracle and tarot cards, candles, incense, jewellery, classes and events keep customers coming. The history of the LaRue House is a perfect fit for all we do, and it is unique on its own.
What business achievement are you most proud of?
In 2018, I am celebrating 5 years in business. I am delighted to have met so many wonderful people who I have been able to connect to others. Our local spiritual community is amazing!
Why did you choose Leeds and the Thousand Islands to start your business?
When I started, I knew that the LaRue House had its own special energy that was suited for this type of niche business. So even though I considered alternatives, my home in Leeds and the Thousand Islands kept calling me back.
What words would you use to describe Leeds and the Thousand Islands?
Beautiful and breathtaking. I am so grateful to live along our gorgeous Thousand Islands Parkway and enjoy a river view.
