Zoning
The Township's Zoning By-Law establishes and regulates the use of land by implementing the policies of the Township's Official Plan. The Zoning By-Law regulates the permitted uses for a property and establishes appropriate standards for development.
Zoning By-Laws contain specific, provisions for the development of a property such as building setbacks, maximum building height, setbacks from natural features, and required number of parking spaces.
The Zoning By-Law includes the following components:
- Maps (schedules) which identify what the zoning of a property is:
- Provisions which list the permitted uses, and regulations applicable to each zone in the Zoning By-Law;
- General Provisions which establish requirements for specific uses such as accessory uses , parking, and home occupations that are consistent in all zones; and
- Definitions regarding the land uses and other zoning terminology related to the performance standards of the Zoning By-Law.
