Fire Training
We operate a Regional Training Centre (RTC) in partnership with the Ontario Fire College (OFC). The RTC collaborates with the OFC to provide a safe and consistent learning environment that ensures that we meet the industry’s best practices and is welcoming to all students.
It is expected that until at least July 1, 2026, the compliance date for O. Reg 343/22 Firefighter Certification that the focus and priority for the OFC classes will be on those required to support the Fire Service achieving the minimum firefighter certification outlined in the regulation.
As of July 1, 2026 the RTC and OFC will be developing additional course offerings that continue to advance firefighter training and education for Ontario.
Pro Board and IFSAC certification testing and skills evaluation is delivered through the OFMEM (Office of the Fire Marshal Emergency Management Ontario), Academic Standards and Evaluations (AS&E) unit upon completion of specific programs.
Some of the RTC facility features are:
- Live-fire training simulators
- Driver/Operator traffic and roads simulator
- Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) props
- Fire investigation training units
- Fire Prevention Officer development resources
- Certified Instructional staff
