Firefighter Recruitment

Applications are accepted year-round. If you are certified with Firefighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) and HazMat Awareness/Operations (NFPA 1072) please email the application with your resume and cover letter to fireadmin@townshipleeds.on.ca.

Volunteer Requirements

To meet the minimum requirements to be a volunteer firefighter, you should be:

• Eighteen (18) years or older
• Possess a valid Ontario driver's licence (minimum G class) with satisfactory driving record
• Live and /or work within a reasonable response distance to a Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Station
• Physically fit
• No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.

Application and Training Process

Successful candidates will be trained by Leeds Thousand Islands Fire Service; no prior firefighting training or experience is required.  This training will take place during the probationary period of twelve (12) months.
