Wells and Septic
Understanding your well and septic system can help protect your health, the health of your family and the health of the environment. As an owner of a private well and septic system, it is your job to understand its basic maintenance and operation and to take actions to keep it in safe running order.
Free bacteria testing is available for residential wells through the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit. All residential wells should be tested at least once per year. In times of unusual rainfall, flooding or spring run-off, wells should be tested more frequently.
- Water sample bottles are available at the Township office and can be dropped off at the Health Unit in Gananoque or Brockville. For your convenience, there are several other Water Bottle Pick-up and Drop-off locations.
