The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) establishes mandatory accessibility standards to identify, remove and prevent barriers for individuals with disabilities in essential areas of daily life.

The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is committed to ensuring all individuals have equal access to goods, programs, services and information. The Integrated Accessibility Standards Policy of the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands addresses this commitment.
Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands staff receive training on Accessible Customer Service and on the Ontario Human Rights Code. Training on providing accessible customer service and how to interact with people with disabilities is a key requirement of the standard. The Human Rights Code (Code) provides for equal rights and opportunities, and freedom from discrimination. The Code recognizes the dignity and worth of every person in Ontario.
