Recreation Working Group
The Recreation Working Group was created in February 2025 to move forward the Joint Recreation Master Plan of 2019. The Working Group will provide advice and recommendations to Council regarding matters related to parks, recreation facilities and recreation programs that enhance the quality of life of residents and visitors, which reflect the needs of the community and support and encourage active, healthy lifestyles.
The Working Group is comprised of two Council members, the Thousand Islands Public Library and Township staff. Members from the UCDSB Board Rep. and the Gananoque Recreation Department have been invited to join the group.
Timeline of events
- December 2024 - January 2025 - Recreation and Leisure Survey was conducted.
- February 2025 - Initial meeting with the Recreation Working Group and sharing of survey results.
- May - June 2025 - Hosted a series of Town Halls in each community to give an overview of information gathered to date, opportunity for community member discussion and invitation to complete a further survey of identified community needs. If you missed our Town Halls, please see the following key notes:
- June 2025- July 2025 - The community was invited to complete a follow-up survey.
