Call for Nominations | Ontario Senior of the Year 2026

The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is putting a call out for nominations for the Ontario Senior of the Year Award. This prestigious recognition is given out to one(1) outstanding local senior who, after age 65, has enriched their community’s social, cultural, or civic life. This award is presented by each municipality in Ontario and is a testament to the contributions of seniors across fields such as the arts, literature, community service, volunteering, education, the environment, fitness, and humanitarian activities.

To be eligible for the award, the nominee must be a model Ontarian who demonstrates exceptional long-term efforts to positively transform the lives of countless people in their communities.
The Township will take nominations from the community for the annual Ontario Senior of the Year Award.

Nominations will be accepted in electronic or written format until March 31. An electronic form is available through through our website portal,  Hard copies are available at the Township Administrative building, 1233 Prince Street, Lansdowne, ON or the local LTI libraries.

Nominations will be reviewed, and one will be selected for submission to the Ontario Senior of the Year Award Service Portal by April 30.  Only municipalities can submit a nominated senior for this award.

The successful candidate will receive their award during Seniors Month in June.
