Canadian Navigable Waters Act

Public Notice

The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands hereby gives notice that a submission has been added to the Navigable Waters Registry pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for public comment described herein and its site and plans.

Pursuant to paragraph 10(1)(b) of the said Act, The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands has deposited with the Minister of Transport on the on-line Common Project Search Registry (http://cps.canada.ca/) and under registry number 14344, a description of the following work, its site and plans:

“Proposed work is to be conducted between July 15, 2026 – October 15, 2026, on the existing bridge structure at the Black Rapids Road crossing over the watercourse between Long Lake and Lost Bay, located at approximately 44.485318° N, 76.091941° W. The proposed work will consist of complete removal of the existing structure and its replacement with two new 14-metre long, 2.2-metre diameter corrugated steel pipe (CSP) culverts. The culverts will be embedded to match the existing channel bed elevation and maintain current hydraulic conditions. Associated works include widening of the road to accommodate two lanes of traffic, a slight roadway grade increase, and the removal and replacement of existing guide rail systems.”
