(Mallorytown) - The Township of Leeds, the Thousand Islands (TLTI), and the Town of Gananoque hosted the annual Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Recognition Event on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Representatives from OLG and Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands, staff and council from both municipalities and representatives from local community groups that were grant recipients through the OLG funded Community Grants program under the Municipality Contribution Agreement.
Community Grant recipients included Lyndhurst Events, Arts and Fairs, Thousand Islands Association, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 504, The Lansdowne Seniors Group, and several others.
Since the Casino opened in 2002, TLTI and Gananoque have received more than $34 million each under the OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement. The annual recognition event is an opportunity to acknowledge the OLG's contribution to the host communities.
“On behalf of Council and the many TLTI grant recipients, I thank the OLG and Shorelines Casino for their work in supporting our communities through the revenue returned to the township. This revenue has been making a real impact on the programs, events, and services offered by local volunteer-driven organizations to our community residents and visitors. This event gives us a chance to recognize the significant impact your funding dollars provide to the municipality, to connect with our passionate volunteer groups and hear firsthand the difference these programs, activities, and events make”, stated Mayor Corinna Smith-Gatcke.
Mayor John Beddows stated, “On behalf of the Corporation, Council and residents of the Town of Gananoque I celebrate our continuing relationship with OLG. We are grateful for the benefits it continues to bring to our community. For the 24 years since it opened in 2002, the positive impact of the now Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands has been an important driver of the economies of both Gananoque and TLTI, as well as being a valued local business partner and employer. We look forward to many more years of working together to the benefit of our residents, and to OLG's ongoing efforts which benefit all Ontarians!"
OLG truly values being a long-standing partner in the Township of Leeds, the Thousand Islands (TLTI), and the Town of Gananoque and to communities across Ontario. Every dollar of OLG’s profit is returned to Ontario to support the things people care about most, like critical infrastructure, local initiatives, and community events. Those dollars are making a difference here in the Township and Town. The impact wouldn’t be possible without the great team at Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands, whose work supports both the local economy and community well-being. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario.” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager.
