Tell us about yourself! Hobbies? Fun facts? How did you get started?
I have always loved animals and after 23 years as a Social Worker, I decided to pursue my first love of grooming dogs and cats. My first certification was as a certified cat groomer followed by my diploma in dog grooming. There are only 3 feline groomers certified in Eastern Ontario. It is a very unique career and not many groomers will attempt felines, but just as dogs; with patience, kindness and specific training, the salon can be a very calming and relaxing experience for all animals.

Define your business in your own words.
My salon is primarily dog grooming Monday to Thursday. Cats only on Friday and Saturdays. My salon is one on one with all the animals. I am cage free and every dog or cat gets my complete attention. This reduces any chances of virus, injury or anxiety for the animals.

What business achievement are you most proud of?
After three years of having a feline exclusive salon, I opened my doors to dogs in January 2018. The feedback from my clients has been very positive. I keep my prices affordable, so everyone has the ability to keep their pet in the best condition. I offer extended hours for people that work days and even offer weekend options. I have also been told that walking into my salon is a nice change to others due to the cleanliness, pleasing aroma and the calm quiet atmosphere.

Why did you choose Leeds and the Thousand Islands to start your business?
I chose this area because I have always lived here, and I can relate to the needs of people and pets in my community. Most of my clients are grass roots rural people that want their pets in affordable and maintainable grooms that are comfortable for the animal and eye pleasing for the owners.

What words would you use to describe Leeds and the Thousand Islands?
Hard working. The people in this area, the farmers, the factory workers, the small business owners, our residents all work hard to achieve their family’s needs and goals.

Provide a message to your future guests!
All animals are unique with different temperaments, behaviour and needs. I understand the trust in leaving your beloved pet with me and I promise to do my best to create a relaxing pleasant experience for them.
