March 17, 2020, Lansdowne, ON The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is continuing to take safeguards as the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves.  

Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, The Township office will be closed to the public through to Monday, April 6, 2020. 

The office will remain staffed and operational to provide essential services and assistance to residents; staff can be reached by phone and email. To contact the office, please call 613-659-2415 or email

Council, Committee of the Whole, and Committees of Council will only meet to deal with urgent, legislative, regulatory and/or time sensitive issues. Please be advised that all meeting are live streamed.  At this time, the public meetings scheduled for April 6th will be postponed to a future date.  Notice for these meetings will be recirculated when dates are determined. 

All Township recreational programming, events, and facility rentals have been suspended for the immediate future, as gatherings can accelerate the spread of the virus. TLTI will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and update the public accordingly.  

Building Inspections will continue on a limited basis.  Building Inspectors will require social distancing measures on site and may use alternative measures such as photos and videos for inspections.  When entering the location for an inspection the inspector will only view the area needed for the inspection and will touch as little as possible and maintain a safe social distance. 

Interim property tax payments are due March 20th, 2020 and utility bills are due March 31st, 2020. Please note that there are several payment options available including online, through telephone banking, at most financial institutions or you can mail a cheque to the Township office. Please see our website for more information If you’re unable to use one of the available payment options, and are not able to attend the municipal office to make payment due to health concerns, please contact the Township at 613-659-2415 to advise of your late payment.

Operations and road functions will continue as per regular standards and guidelines. Waste sites remain open at this time as per regular schedule. 

Leeds and the Thousand Islands Fire Services will continue to operate under standard operating procedures; however, they have taken additional measures to protect first responders. 

Leeds and the Thosuand Islands Public Library (LTIPL), while closed through to April 6, have been developing and implementing a series of web-based programs. LTIPL are also making online resources more available. Resident may also access WiFi at each of the three library branches. Please contact the main branch 613-659-3885 or visit to learn more. 

Please do your part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and flatten the curve.
