More fitness and recreation programs are beginning this week. Visit the Township website and click “Recreation and Leisure Programs” to browse and register for programs.

Take Action on Radon! The Township has joined the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge, a national initiative to help raise awareness of radon gas that can occur in your household. Radon is the leading cause of Lung Cancer in non-smokers.

The Township will be receiving 100 test kits for free distribution to residents who request a kit. An additional 100 kits will be available to purchase at cost through the Township Office. These tests are placed in your home for 91 days and after those 91 days, the test will be returned to the lab for your results. For more information, please visit www.takeactiononradon.ca.

A friendly reminder that our Waste Disposal Sites are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Visit our website for Waste Disposal Site days and locations near you.

Ontario Clean Water Agency will be flushing hydrants in the village of Lansdowne from Sept 28 to Oct 9. Residents may notice a discolouration of the water at their homes during this period and for a short time after. Please run the water until it is clear. This discolouration is not hazardous to your health and is typical of a normal operating water distribution system. Find your water and sewer resources on our website.

Events
The Thousand Islands ATV Club invites you to take a ride with them at the Fall Colours Ride to enjoy the beauty of fall! The cost of the ride of $10.00 per machine with registration starting at 8 a.m. The ride will leave at 9:30 a.m. and will return at 4 p.m. OFATV trail permits are required and will be available on the day of the ride. Residents of Lansdowne and beyond are encouraged by the Lansdowne Association for Revitalization to build and display scarecrows. There are smiles and laughs to be had by all! You can send a picture of your scarecrow to lafr@1000island.net and they will share it on their Facebook page.
